Quilted Cloth Kits Dress

Another recycled vintage quilt. This one has been made up into a dress using a 1980s Clothkits dress pattern. I have over printed and embroidered it and embellished the bodice with my trade mark suffolk puffs.

Unpicking

Harris Tweed

The basis of this skirt is a strippy quilt which has been unpicked to reveal different layers. I have intervened with the surface through embellishing with second hand Harris Tweed, needlepoint, buttons and have patched to mend. I am trying to photograph and catalogue all the work which will be included in my exhibition "Thrift and Thread".

Sock Monkey Workshop

I will be running FREE workshops on making sock creatures on Monday 15th February, half term. They are for adults who like to indulge in childish pursuits or for children with adults. The workshops will take place at Pegswood Community Project, Longhirst Rd, Pegswood near Morpeth . Ring 01670 512185 for more details.  You can chose between the 10 am - midday session or the 1pm - 3pm slot. I will provide all the materials but it would be useful if you could bring a glove or sock with you.

South Pacific

Yesterday I delivered a workshop to some of the "Elderberries" at Alnwick Gardens. For some time I have been recycling old LPs, embellishing them with collage and stitch to create new works of art which can be framed or propped up. I sell them from my studio and they make fantastic gifts. This workshop was initiated by Highlights who are supporting my "Thrift and Thread" exhibition which will be touring Northumberland, Cumbria and County Durham in the Spring ( More details at www.highlightsnorth.co.uk )
The participants were each given an LP to decorate and here are some of the results. The LPs will be on show at the Pegswood venue where there will also be a performance by some of the Elderberry dancers using tracks from the LPs.

Here is some of my own work

Demented rabbit

Started teaching a new series of workshops yesterday. Here is a demented rabbit that one of the young mums at Surestart Pegswood has made.
