Festival of Quilts 2014
Have been at Birmingham NEC today at this year's Festival of Quilts. Favourite pieces were this stitching by Colette Sinclair "The Garden Scape". It was entered into the Quilt Competition and wasn't really a quilt which is why I think I liked it!
Also loved the stitching and zaniness of Anne Smith's quilt . I have admired her work from afar so it was great to see it in real life.
Purchased lots of fabric of course and my favourite threads from Empress Mills and am now a delighted owner of an original piece from Louise Baldwin whose work I love. She bought a piece of my work last year so now we a re even!

The Wildflower Area
A couple of weeks ago I actually managed to spend a couple of hours drawing in the wild flower garden at The Hearth. It was just going over but hope I managed to capture some of the atmosphere of this slightly over run area which gives a lot of pleasure to our visitors.

Turkey Red
I recently visited the wonderful American Museum in Bath I was much taken with the quilt room and particularly the red embroidered quilt in their collection. I came back and drew this fox in red stitching relating it to my local quilt tradition by using a piece of north country turkey red strippy and the flowers were unpicked from a north country eiderdown. The horse is a detail from the quilt in the American Museum www.http://americanmuseum.org/
