Using orange

Well I eventually cut up the embroidered Indian bedspread and here is the first collage I have made with it. This is what I like doing  best and find very difficult to give these away or sell them… It was good to use the orange which is outside my usual palette.

Sonia's Quilt

Thought I had gone to heaven yesterday when I saw this cot quilt made by Sonia Delauney in the show at Tate Modern http://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-modern/exhibition/ey-exhibition-sonia-delaunay
There are lots of textiles to see so if you are in London over the next few months don't miss it. Think I might have to go and have a geometric phase or Simultanea as she called it!

I am very lucky to be given lovely things to use in my work. I am going to start to use this beautiful embroidered Indian bedspread given to me by someone whose own textile work has been admired by me for 30 years. It is very worn and I know the previous owner won't mind me turning it into something new but it will be hard to take a pair of scissors to this!

Loving Lace

You will rarely see lace in my work. I do however have a large collection and feel it is time to try and use it and pass the knowledge on. Here are a couple of  teaching samples I have made in the past week to advertise a course I am going to do about lace in November at The Hearth
