Mood Boards

I have have spent January researching, putting together a mood board and collecting fabrics together for a new body of work based on remembered landscapes. Having a mood board up in the studio helps to remind me of colour palettes and general mood of what I am trying to achieve in my own visual language.

  1. On holiday in Northumberland 12 years ago, my 6 year old daughter asked me what I would like for my birthday. Looking at the wide blue sky, with the dried gold of the moors beneath and the brush by the roadside, I said I would like a weaving to remind me of my holiday.

I had to help her make a little frame with twigs and string and she ran out of patience before she had done a great deal, but she made me a weaving which still hangs in our hall and, yes, it recalls the landscape and evokes the holiday better than a bunch of photos.
