Feeling cold

The chill is starting to hit the north and it has inspired me to create a new line for Etsy so this is the first polar bear that I have just put on. I plan to put on more before Christmas but everything is hand sewn and they just in the end take time… Find hime HERE

Drawing Support

Today my daughter Alice has been at Yorkshire Sculpture Park in a meeting about her show there next year and I have been at Customs House South Shields unpacking work for my solo exhibition which opens next week. Textile Artist .Org have done a wonderful feature on us together - how I encouraged my children to be creative, how Alice has forged her own identity, things we do together, our work processes and studio environments. It really captures what we, mother and daughter , are all about. You can read it HERE

Open Studios this weekend!

Will just get back in Norfolk in time to tidy my studio up a bit for the Open Studios event this weekend at The Hearth Horsley. It is not all about us selling things but about you getting the chance to have a peek in EVERY studio and for us to showcase the work of other artists and designers in the main hall ( these are listed in the link above) I will have books for sale and can sign there and then if you want.
My studio might not look as pretty as this but there are always things to see!

Making jelly

I am an early waker and  am most alert at dawn. I think I take after my grandmother who used to get up early to do all sorts of things before breakfast. This is her jelly mould…..

Prep Time

Only three weeks to go to delivery of all my pieces to The Customs House for the installation of my solo show "Worn" which will be on for a couple of months. Towards the end of the prepation there is always a period of finishing off - putting the backs on things, fastenings for hanging, writing  the interpretation etc. Here is a picture of something finished today and a detail. I am finding it very hard to photograph this work because a lot of it is stitched on to black satin and the camera just doesn't like the shine! Locals, put the preview in your diaries.
