Mie-ow

I am starting to do a series of collages around an image transfer  of a very serious looking cat. This cat has been pinned to the noticeboard in my kitchen for many years and I thought it was time to share this delightful image around a bit. Here is the first collage I have made using him and which is available now on ETSY and also a picture of my kitchen noticeboard which I agree is a bit chaotic but isn't everybody's?

Red

Red is my favourite colour.I often bring red stitching in to my work and bits of old turkey red fabric find their way in to nearly everything.
This is a companion piece to the little red jacket that is featured on the title page of my book "Textile Collage". I am working towards an exhibition of these pieces but they are taking me a long time.

Extra, Extra! Read all about it…...

Last summer I was lucky enough to be invited to teach, by Selvedge Magazine, at the atmospheric Chateau Dumas in the south of France. The students and I had a lovely time basking in the sun, being fed scrumptious food and working in the studio. They had 6 days of working with me cracking the whip but feed back was great and they all produced some lovely work in a textile collage style mixing in vintage French bits and having a day dyeing and over dyeing with the local woad.

I was asked back again this summer but the course filled up immediately and now Selvedge have asked me if I will do an EXTRA week, 5th - 12th August,  so that more of you have a chance to join us at this lovely venue.
Read all about the course HERE and please consider embarking on an adventure, even with a friend,   and joining me at Chateau  Dumas for a spot of textile indulgence in a beautiful location where all you need to think about is what delicious morsels will be served up on the terraced next  and whether you can thread your needle!
Places are expected to be snapped up quickly so contact Lizzie HERE for more information and booking.

A new old appliquéd quilt

It is very rare to see an appliquéd quilt up in the north east as it wasn't particularly a tradition of this area. This one came my way today and I am so pleased to be its new owner. Love the wear and tear on it and the quirky naivety of it. Other women buy shoes I buy quilts!
