Sock Monkey Workshop

I will be running FREE workshops on making sock creatures on Monday 15th February, half term. They are for adults who like to indulge in childish pursuits or for children with adults. The workshops will take place at Pegswood Community Project, Longhirst Rd, Pegswood near Morpeth . Ring 01670 512185 for more details.  You can chose between the 10 am - midday session or the 1pm - 3pm slot. I will provide all the materials but it would be useful if you could bring a glove or sock with you.

South Pacific

Yesterday I delivered a workshop to some of the "Elderberries" at Alnwick Gardens. For some time I have been recycling old LPs, embellishing them with collage and stitch to create new works of art which can be framed or propped up. I sell them from my studio and they make fantastic gifts. This workshop was initiated by Highlights who are supporting my "Thrift and Thread" exhibition which will be touring Northumberland, Cumbria and County Durham in the Spring ( More details at www.highlightsnorth.co.uk )
The participants were each given an LP to decorate and here are some of the results. The LPs will be on show at the Pegswood venue where there will also be a performance by some of the Elderberry dancers using tracks from the LPs.

Here is some of my own work

Bedwear

This is what I have done with the pleating. This was quite a pretty little bed jacket but now I've customised it I think it could go out to a party!

Pleating

I have been using my pleating machine all afternoon. Tiny scraps and ribbons overlaying each other which means many needles were broken. The pieces are now wrapped up in tin foil and are steaming away next to the Christmas pudding we didn't eat on the appropriate day.

Recycling ties

New Year is the time to go through the wardrobe and get rid of things. Here is a way to recycle your man's old ties. Use as purses, camera or spectacle cases.
