William Morris Summer School

Someone has just pointed out that I have mentioned a William Morris inspired summer school in my blog but have no information on my web site. I have now corrected  this and there are still places. Check out my website www.mandypattullo.co.uk.  Here is the information I have published there. The course takes place at The Hearth Horsley. The summer schools are always a highlight of the summer for me because when I have 4 days to work with students they are really able to progress their ideas.
I am invited to run this course by Horsley Printmakers .

William Morris - Mixed Media Summer School
With Mandy Pattullo
Thur to Sun | Aug 14 - 17 | 10.00 - 16.00 | Fee £200.00

Willam Morris and the other artists associated with the Arts and Crafts movement such as
Edward Burne Jones and Voysey have had a profound influence on interior design since
the late nineteenth century. Their style ethos was taken up by Liberty and Morris designs
are still printed today for interior fabrics. In this course we will look closely at wallpaper and
textile designs of that period and choose key features to work up into beautiful drawing
sheets. We will develop your designs using mixed media techniques to create unique
Morris inspired pieces of art. From these we will select and simplify to make lino blocks
which can be used to print lengths of fabric or work up a small edition of linoprints which
can be further enhanced with colour and collage. This 4 day course will allow you to
immerse yourself into a design aesthetic and give you the opportunity to work with drawing
and design as well as relief printmaking techniques. All abilities welcome.
