Recent monotypes
Tuesday, 28 December 2010
My daughter Alice Pattullo who is an illustrator based in Brighton excelled herself this year by designing and making all her presents. These are some of the ones I received. She is keen to accept commissions for product design so if you want to get her to design something for you then have a look at her website to get a taste of what she can do. www.alicepattullo,com

Sewing Equipment
The North East is covered in deep deep snow which means you have to amuse yourself close to home and within walking distance. Yesterday I had a good morning at Northern Print making some screen prints on paper and fabric of some drawings I have been doing of sewing machines. I didn't like the finished pieces much but I love the details do will probably cut them up.

Threads of Feeling
I have been in London for the weekend. Visited some excellent shows .
Check out Louise Bourgeois fabric works at the Hauser and Wirth gallery in Saville Row. When you go to their web site they have a really good slide show of everything that is exhibited.
The Museum of Everything www.museumofeverything.com is showing Peter Blake's collection of circus ephemera and the marvellous taxidermy art of Walter Potter. The Museum is in Primrose Hill so there is good shopping too, we had wonderful Russian food at Trojka.
Best of all was Threads of Feeling at the Foundling Museum ( www.foundlingmuseum.org.uk). Very poignant exhibition of textile tokens left by 18th century mothers as they handed over and renounced their babies to the Foundling Hospital. Ribbons and cockades, embroideries, prints and textile fragments pinned inside the original entry ledgers with excellent interpretative boards.

Still Lives
I see Bridget Jones has made some new screen prints inspired by her jug collection ( http://the-walls-have-eyes.blogspot.com) I too have been working with jugs and cups and bottles as a theme but using monotype and surface decoration techniques to create one offs. These are for sale direct from my studio at The Hearth.
