Collages for Daphne

2 new collages to be exhibited next to my Daphne's Glove work in a month's time. This more abstract work is what I like doing best as it is true collage and I become totally involved in the creative process.

Lacy Collage

I have been making some new collages for the Open Studios/ Wool fair this Saturday and for my ETSY shop. Always try to have something new for people to look at. The pieces of text are from some letters that are 150 years old and I have used the original I'm afraid!

Step into Stitch

The summer school finished today. Students made piles of felt and slippers for themselves from British wool with Ellie and then I did the decorative embroidery bits with them. Think they were glad to sit down after the rigours of felt making for a few days!  Here is a picture of a piece from each of the students some slipper details and some parts of the embroidered pictures on to the flat felt.

BOLD 25kg

I have been working for the last couple of weeks on a piece inspired by my visit to "Savage Beauty". You were not allowed to take photographs or make sketches but I held in mind a hessian ball gown with embroidered flowers and this is my response to the piece on to a potato sack. I worked in a quilting frame and haven't ironed my piece of sack cloth yet so please excuse the circular creases!
Made up as I went along but over the years have done many wool flowers so didn't need a pattern. Knitting wool, crewel wool and tapestry wool - all bought from charity shops!
My next project will be to make some sort of waistband.

Recycling Gudrun

Printing lino blocks on to pages of old Gudrun Sjoden catalogues. They will eventually be cut up ( so there won't be ladies peeping out!)  and made into cards.
